Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is currently in a tough spot as he is attempting to keep the team competitive while also selling off assets.
Brad Treliving is being asked to do what some think is impossible. Sell off some assets while also keeping the team in the hunt for the playoffs.
This kind of juggling game is not something you would expect from a team of the Maple Leafs' caliber. However, here we are, six points out of a playoff spot.
The Maple Leafs are in an odd position right now, as they are currently on a three-game winning streak and are starting to show tremendous promise.
It has led to some questions about whether or not the Maple Leafs are meant to sell, or if they should pivot from where they are right now.
Darren Dreger reveals the Maple Leafs' plan
According to Darren Dreger, the last three games have meant absolutely nothing to general manager Brad Treliving. As it stands, the Leafs are still going to sell off players.
No it doesn’t; Treliving over the next three weeks...is going to continue to gauge the interest
For some fans, this is going to be extremely disappointing. After all, there was a real hope that this Leafs team could endure.
However, at this point, it is probably for the best that the Maple Leafs just trigger a retool and get it over with already.
It's not the end of the world. The Leafs can still show the world that they are a good team. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
If this team can get big performances from its stars, that might just be enough to steal a wild card spot at the end of the season.
