Darren Dreger Reignites Nazem Kadri-Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Rumors
Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri is someone the Toronto Maple Leafs have had their eyes on, and Darren Dreger is pouring a whole lot of fuel on that fire.
Nazem Kadri is one of the most beloved Toronto Maple Leafs forwards of the last decade, and there is no doubt that the fans miss him.
In fact, there have been some reunion rumors involving the center, as the Leafs have been looking for someone to play up the middle on the second line.
Furthermore, with Mitch Marner gone, it would certainly be nice to inject 30 goals of offense into the lineup. Unfortunately, the Calgary Flames have been reluctant to part ways with Kadri, and rightfully so.
Are the Toronto Maple Leafs still pursuing Nazem Kadri?
With the NHL regular season about to begin, the Kadri rumors are back in full focus, and Darren Dreger is pouring fuel on the fire with an appearance on the 'Barn Burner' Podcast.
Dreger revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, and even the Vancouver Canucks would be very interested in making a trade.
There'd be many teams with interest, not just the Leafs. Canucks need some help, the Canadiens; just go around the league. But then what does Calgary do? It's gonna take...a tremendous overpay.
As you can see, Dreger was also very realistic with the fact that the Calgary Flames will be overcharging for Kadri, seeing as though they kind of need him right now.
If the Maple Leafs were serious about a reunion, it would cost them dearly, and that is probably not going to fly with general manager Brad Treliving.
With the season set to begin on Wednesday, the Maple Leafs are simply better off waiting to see how things play out. They may not even need Kadri, in the end.
Either way, we do hope to see Kadri in a Leafs jersey again someday, even if it is a long time from now.
