Dennis Hildeby reveals what Troy Stecher told him after bone-headed own goal

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers put on a show on Saturday night, although the show was a bit one-sided.

In the end, the Oilers won by a score of 6-3, with Connor McDavid putting on an absolute clinic. Meanwhile, the Leafs had yet another questionable game from their superstars.

There were some low points for the Leafs in this game, including an own-goal off the stick of Troy Stecher, who was trying to clear the puck away.

Instead, he practically shot the puck into his own net, and he looked pretty disgusted with himself after it happened. It was especially embarrassing, seeing as though the Oilers are Stecher's former team, and he was looking to prove them wrong last night.

After the game, goaltender Dennis Hildeby spoke to the media, where he revealed that Stecher apologized for his mishap.

While this is unfortunate for Stecher, it should be noted that this is his first real mistake of the season. For the most part, he has been fantastic.

Since being picked up off waivers, Troy Stecher has recorded one goal and four assists with the Maple Leafs, while also boasting a +9 rating.

He is also averaging more than 22 minutes per night, which shows that Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube trusts him in numerous situations.

This is a setback for the defenseman, but there is no denying that he is currently in a position of strength, and on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks, he can redeem himself.
