Team Canada defeated Team Czechia by a score of 5-0 today, although things did not go according to plan as Canada lost a key member of the team to injury.

Today was successful for Team Canada as they won their men's hockey Olympic debut against a motivated team from the Czech Republic.
In the end, Canada was just too much for Czechia to deal with. They had all of the tools to win in a blowout, and the goaltending from Jordan Binnington was spectacular.
Unfortunately, Team Canada suffered a big-time injury that has the potential to sink their gold medal hopes. Josh Morrissey left the game in the second period and never came back.

Josh Morrissey out for Team Canada

According to Elliotte Friedman, the hope is that Morrissey is going to be able to come back in time for this weekend's slate of games.
However, there is no guarantee that this will be the case. On Friday, Canada is going to play against Switzerland, before playing France on Sunday.
This is not a long enough turnaround for Morrissey to get back in the lineup, or at least it very much feels that way.
Travis Sanheim was one of the scratches today, and he is expected to be the seventh defenseman on Friday for the game against the Swiss.
For now, it is clear that the Canadians are the class of the tournament and are expected to win it all. Of course, Team USA plays Latvia today, which should be an interesting matchup.
Canada isn't in the clear just yet. They still have a lot to prove as Switzerland and France will be eager to beat them.
Although if a 5-0 win is possible against the Czechs, then we could see bigger blowouts against the other countries.
