Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been named in Toronto Maple Leafs trade rumors, and there is no doubt that the Edmonton Oilers are interested.
Going into the NHL Trade Deadline, the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the teams that everyone is going to be looking at.
Another team that is creating some intrigue is the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are Stanley Cup contenders, and they will be looking to add some talent.
It seems clear that the Leafs and Oilers are potential trade partners. The Leafs have players to sell, and the Oilers want to buy them.
For instance, Bobby McMann and Nicolas Roy have both been linked to the Edmonton Oilers as of late. However, you can now add defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to that list.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson for Isaac Howard
According to David Pagnotta, there were some rumblings that Ekman-Larsson could be traded for Andrew Mangiapane.
However, Pagnotta is now saying that it is more likely that the Leafs would trade OEL for former first-round pick Isaac Howard.
The Leafs aren’t trading [Ekman-Larsson] for Mangiapane and a pick. So, sorry, that’s not going to happen. You’re probably looking at something like an Isaac Howard in a deal to get OEL out of Toronto.
Howard has split his time between the Edmonton Oilers and the Bakersfield Condors this season. In 28 NHL games, he has two goals and three assists.
In 22 AHL games, Howard has 30 points, which just goes to show that he is a tremendous talent with lots of upside.
The Maple Leafs could use some offensive prospects, and the 21-year-old Howard is someone who the Maple Leafs should be doing everything to acquire.
