Easton Cowan Catches a Huge Break Just Days Before the Toronto Maple Leafs' Season Opener
With the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to solidify their lineup for the season opener against the Montreal Canadiens, Easton Cowan finds himself in a weird spot.
Easton Cowan is in the midst of trying to make the Toronto Maple Leafs, and just a few days ago, it felt as though his hopes had been dashed due to Scott Laughton's injury.
The thought was that David Kampf would take over on the fourth line, and that the lack of chemistry with Kampf would send Cowan down to the Toronto Marlies.
However, Kampf has since cleared waivers and is on his way down to the Marlies instead. Meanwhile, at practice today, the Leafs put Nicolas Roy on the fourth line, with Max Domi on the third.

Nick Robertson was gifted a golden opportunity as he was placed on the third line with Domi and Dakota Joshua.
As for Cowan, he found himself on the fourth line with Steven Lorentz and Roy. However, he was sharing the line with Calle Jarnkrok, who is also fighting for a spot on the team.
With just two before the start of the regular season, it is clear that the Toronto Maple Leafs have some truly massive decisions to make, and we're sure the fans will be eager to see what happens.

Overall, it will be interesting to see what head coach Craig Berube decides going forward. At the end of the day, the fans want to see Cowan on the ice.
However, the Maple Leafs also need to balance his development, which may not happen if he is stuck playing on the fourth line.
