Easton Cowan Gets His Big Break as Toronto Maple Leafs All But Confirm Opening Night Lineup
With the Toronto Maple Leafs set to begin their regular season on October 8th, it seems as though the team has made a shock decision involving Easton Cowan.
Easton Cowan is one of the best prospects on the Toronto Maple Leafs right now, and throughout training camp, he has made the case for himself to make the roster.
During multiple preseason games, he has looked sensational, and he is building chemistry with fourth-liners like Steven Lorentz and Scott Laughton.
He appears to be NHL-ready, and with the season just over a week away, it seems like the Maple Leafs are preparing to give him the keys to the car.

According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Leafs' practice this morning included an NHL lineup. Shockingly, Nick Robertson was left off of it.
Michael Pezzetta, Calle Jarnkrok, and David Kampf were also left off, and relegated to the fifth line.
As for Easton Cowan, he found himself on the fourth line with Lorentz and Laughton, which suggests he will be on the opening night roster.

This is a massive development for the young forward. Of course, this could change between now and October 8th, but for now, head coach Craig Berube is happy to give him the opportunity.
Meanwhile, guys like Kampf, Jarnkrok, and Robertson could find themselves losing their opportunities in real time.
Over the coming days, we will certainly see some massive roster moves from the franchise.
