Former Toronto Maple Leafs Players Hit With Unfortunate Waivers News
Today, 20 players were placed on Waivers, and two of them are forwards who once played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, albeit briefly.
With training camp winding down, numerous teams throughout the league are looking to whittle down their rosters to keep things lean.
Overall, teams have had to make some incredibly difficult choices, especially when it comes to who to cut and who to potentially trade.
If you are a team with an abundance of talent, this has been an especially difficult time, and we do not envy those teams.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are certainly among them, as they are one of the deepest teams in the NHL right now, and they have had to put players on waivers, while sending young guys down to junior.
Scott Sabourin and Dominic Toninato on waivers
As it turns out, two former Toronto Maple Leafs players have been placed on waivers today. Twenty players felt this fate in total, and these former Leafs got a taste of it.
Those players are Scott Sabourin and Dominic Toninato. Toninato was a former draft pick of the team who never got signed.
Meanwhile, Sabourin was with the team during COVID times, although he never actually played for the main roster.
Ultimately, the Toronto Maple Leafs did not miss out on much by getting rid of these players, as they have not sustained NHL success.
For those unaware, Toninato was with the Chicago Blackhawks, while Sabourin was playing with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
At this time, their NHL futures are very much up in the air, and there is no telling what will happen for them next. We wish them the best of luck.
