Ten Toronto Maple Leafs young guns are being targeted by an NHL rule that was just enforced because of a celebration involving the New Jersey Devils.

Brendan Dillon and the New Jersey Devils had the NHL up in arms this past week after the Devils celebrated Dillon's 1000th NHL game.
Their celebration included all of their players warming up without helmets before a game. While players who entered the league prior to 2019 can do this, those who came in afterward cannot.
The league was not happy with the New Jersey Devils defying this rule, which has been part of the rule book for a while now.

NHL reminds teams about warmup rule

In the end, the league decided to send a memo to all of the teams, reminding them of the rule and some of the penalties that could come about if they are not compliant.
Rule 9.6:
It is mandatory for all players who entered the NHL beginning with the 2019-2020 season or later to wear their helmet during pre-game warm-up. To be clear, all players who entered the League prior to the 2019-2020 season and who are currently playing are exempt from this mandate.
This affects the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have a total of 10 players on their roster right now who came into the league after 2019. Most notably, Easton Cowan.
The 10 Leafs stars affected:
- Easton Cowan
- Dakota Joshua
- Matthew Knies
- Steven Lorentz
- Matias Maccelli
- Bobby McMann
- Nick Robertson
- Dennis Hildeby
- Joseph Woll
- Simon Benoit

Hopefully, the Leafs take this new rule seriously and don't get themselves into any trouble.
