Elliotte Friedman Confirms Imminent Contract Extension for Anthony Stolarz & the Maple Leafs

Anthony Stolarz had a sensational season with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2024-25, and there is no doubt that he was deserving of a contract extension.

Over the past few weeks, both sides have been working on a new deal, with October 8th being set as a potential deadline to get something done.

According to Elliotte Friedman, a deal is officially imminent. During the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs broadcast, the insider explained how both sides are closer than ever to a contract.

In fact, fans should expect Stolarz to be paid close to $4 million per season. The length of the deal is currently unknown.

The Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly want this to be a three-year deal, although it would appear as though a four-year deal is where this will settle.

Getting Stolarz and Joseph Woll under wraps would be huge for the Maple Leafs, as it ensures a top-tier goaltending duo for at least two more seasons.

Stolarz had a goals-against average of 2.14 last season, and while that will be difficult to duplicate, there is no denying that he is ready to prove the doubters wrong.

For the Leafs, getting this deal done will be a huge sigh of relief. Had this gone into the regular season, it could have been a huge distraction.

Based on Friedman's report, we could very well get the official confirmation of a deal either today or sometime throughout the upcoming week.
