Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube and general manager Brad Treliving are on the hot seat, and some people think their days are numbered.
Brad Treliving and Craig Berube have taken a lot of heat this season, as the Toronto Maple Leafs just haven't been good enough.
Berube hasn't been able to rally the team behind his system, while Treliving has largely failed at putting together a roster that can compete at the highest level.
While the Leafs had a convincing 7-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night, there is still a lot of concern about this team's potential.
Berube and Treliving remain on the hot seat, and the calls for their firings remain pronounced, especially from the fanbase at large.
Will Brad Treliving and Craig Berube lose their jobs?
However, fans should not expect anything to happen anytime soon. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Leafs have no plans to fire their head coach or general manager.
I don't believe there is anything imminent in terms of organizational changes like coach, GM, anything like that. I don't think they're thinking about it, I don't think it's on the horizon... If anything like that was to happen, it's down the road.
There have been reports suggesting that Treliving is in more trouble than Craig Berube, although that is hard to believe given their respective importance.
Firing a general manager in the middle of the season almost never happens, so fans should not expect that to happen.
If the Leafs were to fire Berube, it would have to be after a horrific losing streak. There is still time to turn the season around, and the Leafs can still make the postseason.
With that in mind, we are excited to see what happens next. Berube and Treliving have a real opportunity to prove everyone wrong.
