Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube and general manager Brad Treliving are on the hot seat right now, and one reporter has a hot take on what's next.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have struggled this season, and there is no denying that something drastic must happen for things to actually change.
For the most part, fans have been pushing for a big trade. Meanwhile, there are others who have been pushing for some sort of firing. Of course, the main target of said firing would be head coach Craig Berube.
However, there are others who are calling for the job of general manager, Brad Treliving. Treliving has failed to improve this roster, and the acquisitions of Dakota Joshua and Nicolas Roy have proven to be failures.
According to Andy Strickland, a Maple Leafs higher-up's job is in jeopardy, although it might not be the guy you were fully expecting.

Is Craig Berube or Brad Treliving being fired first?

As Strickland explains, people around the league believe Treliving is in more trouble than Berube. People like Keith Pelley believe in Berube, but when it comes to Treliving, there is some trepidation.
The more people I talk to around there and kinda dig into it, I think Treliving is the one who's in trouble, not chief (Craig Berube), the people upstairs with the Maple Leafs at the highest level still really support Craig Berube
For Treliving, the message is very simple. Make this team better through trades, or you're gone. It's a spot to be in, but Treliving gets paid the big bucks for a reason.
After bad trades for Brandon Carlo and Scott Laughton, there is a lot of understandable frustration going around. Not to mention, draft assets have been handled poorly.
The Leafs have been buyers for years, and now, they look like sellers who need to retool for the 2026-27 season. It's sad, but this is where the Leafs are right now.
Of course, they could start winning, which solves everything. Until then, however, Treliving and Berube will need to be on high alert.
