Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Kasperi Kapanen is currently with the Edmonton Oilers, and unfortunately, he is going through a plethora of injury problems.

Kasperi Kapanen has been dealing with a plethora of injury issues this season, and it has ultimately forced him to make some difficult decisions.
He has only participated in six games for the Edmonton Oilers in 2025-26, and over the course of the last few weeks, he has been making progress in his rehab.
The former Toronto Maple Leafs forward was at practice on Thursday, and things seemed to be going just fine. Unfortunately, that did not last long.

Kasperi Kapanen faces yet another injury setback

In a clip that is now going viral on Twitter, Kapanen re-injured himself and was incredibly frustrated with his predicament. In his frustration, he took his stick and swatted at a pile of sticks near the bench.
The sticks went crashing down, and some even landed on the ice with ferocity. The training staff looked taken aback by all of this, as did his teammates who were stretching.
Clearly, hockey is something that means a lot to Kapanen, and not being able to play is tearing him up inside. So much so that he lashed out.
Kapanen played with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2015 to 2020, and he had a career-high of 44 points. He's always been a streaky guy, and the Oilers know this all too well.
He actually had himself a solid playoff run last season with the Oilers, nothing three goals and three assists in 12 games. This season, he has two points in his six games.
With the Oilers struggling in the Pacific Division standings, there is no denying that they would absolutely love for Kapanen to come back right now.
Unfortunately, it appears as though they are going to have to wait a while for that to be a realistic possibility.
