It's Official for David Kampf and the Toronto Maple Leafs

David Kampf has been struggling to crack the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup, and with just a few days before the start of the season, the team has taken action.

Despite an injury to Scott Laughton, Kampf was put on waivers on Friday, alongside prospect defenseman William Villeneuve.

This move was made so that the Leafs can transition Kampf between the AHL and NHL with ease during Scott Laughton's injury.

However, there was an outside chance that Kampf could be claimed, thus ruining the Toronto Maple Leafs' meticulously crafted plans.

Today, however, the Toronto Maple Leafs got an answer when it comes to Kampf and his status going forward.

Luckily for him and the Leafs, he will remain with the franchise for now. He has cleared waivers, and the Leafs can either send him down to the Toronto Marlies or keep him with the Leafs.

This is certainly good news, but it does bring up questions about what is next for Kampf and whether or not the Leafs will trade him.

He hasn't lived up to his contract, which has a ton of term for absolutely no reason whatsoever-one of the weaker deals this team has made.

Over the course of the coming days, we will have a much better idea of how this team wants to put the lineup together.

Overall, there is a lot that can change, with Laughton's injury throwing a huge wrench in many of this team's plans.
