Jack Roslovic Seemingly Sabotaged His Own NHL Career for the Toronto Maple Leafs
Throughout the summer, the Toronto Maple Leafs flirted with signing Jack Roslovic, although things didn't work out that way, and now, the forward's NHL career hangs in the balance.
Jack Roslovic had 22 goals last season and 17 assists for 39 points. He was solid with the Carolina Hurricanes, and when free agency started, it was unfathomable that he would go this long without a contract.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were interested in Roslovic, although it has become clear that the Leafs simply aren't in the market for another bottom-sixer.
Now, the regular season is about to begin, and there is no guarantee that Roslovic is actually going to play in the NHL this season.
Jack Roslovic waited too long for the Toronto Maple Leafs
According to Darren Dreger, Roslovic may have ruined his NHL career by waiting too long for the Maple Leafs this past Summer.
While he had a deal on the table from the Edmonton Oilers, he felt that it wasn't enough. Moreover, he assumed that something larger was on the table, presumably from the Leafs.
Dreger on Flamesnation says Oilers offered Jack Roslovic a multi year contract, felt he could've been a good fit there, apparently the offer was not enough, Roslovic thought a better deal was coming, he remains unsigned.
Putting all of your eggs in one basket like this is never a smart thing to do, and at this point, it really does feel like Roslovic sabotaged himself.
If you are a fan of the Maple Leafs, you have to be understanding of why the team chose not to sign him.
Either way, the next week will be interesting as the season is about to begin, and Roslovic is still without a job for the upcoming season.
Given everything he has done in the NHL to date, you would think someone would give him a chance and that he would compromise on the salary.
