Mitch Marner is currently playing for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, although if one thing is for certain, it is that the Toronto Maple Leafs could use him.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights are not having the year they would have hoped for in the Pacific Division and Western Conference standings.
As of right now, they are in a Wild Card spot and have a record of 10-5-7. They have lost a whopping seven games in either overtime or a shootout. One of their latest overtime losses included a horrific mistake from Mitch Marner.
Speaking of Marner, the former Toronto Maple Leafs winger has not been all that he was cracked up to be. Early in the season, he had some success, but also suffered a demotion.
Meanwhile, the forward's play has not led to the positive results the franchise was hoping for. Of course, it might be too early to say, but as it stands, Marner's performance is hard to justify.

Mitch Marner fails to meet expectations in Las Vegas

Following his epic mistake, Toronto-based commentator Six Seixeiro made the salient point that Marner is on pace for his lowest point totals since the 2017-18 season.
This would have been near the beginning of the Core Four era, which just goes to show that Marner isn't exactly having the best time in Vegas right now.
One truly has to wonder whether or not he regrets his decision to jump ship. Had he stayed in Toronto, his production would probably be much higher, and the Leafs would actually be a good team.

Mitch Marner's stats don't jump off the page

In 22 games this season, Mitch Marner has 21 points, which is less than a point per game in terms of raw pace. He also has just four goals and is on pace for less than 20.
These statistics are a far cry from his performance last season, where he was able to pick up a total of 102 points on 27 goals and 75 assists.
At the end of the day, Marner needs to be better in order for the Golden Knights to succeed. On the flip side of that, the Leafs need to be better to compete in the Eastern Conference.
If one thing has become apparent, it is that both sides needed each other.
