Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube could be fired this week, and after a loss to the Dallas Stars, the head coach sounded as dejected as ever.

Craig Berube and the Toronto Maple Leafs are having an incredibly difficult time right now, especially after a three-game losing streak on their most recent road trip.
At this point, the Leafs appear to be in dire straits. They are in last place in the Atlantic Division, and are on the verge of being dead last in the Eastern Conference.
Leafs head coach Craig Berube is at risk of losing his job right now, and there is a world in which he gets fired today. Of course, that is merely speculation, but, once again, it would not be a shock.
With that in mind, fans wanted to hear from Berube last night. His team had some flashes of brilliance against the Stars, but simply could not get it done.

As Berube explained, he liked what he saw at times from his team. Unfortunately, the bounces just didn't go their way. They didn't get many power play opportunities, and guys like William Nylander aren't doing enough to score greasy goals.
In his tone, you could tell that the head coach was feeling dejected. This team just isn't responding to his system, and you can see the desperation starting to creep in.

Just last season, Berube was able to coach the Maple Leafs to the second round of the playoffs, where they almost upset the Florida Panthers.
This season, the team is without Mitch Marner, and it is almost as if they have forgotten how to play the game of hockey, which is just sad.
At this point, the playoffs seem like a distant dream, and for a team with such a high payroll, that is just unacceptable on all levels. It's easy to see why some want the coach fired.
Some tough decisions will need to be made, and with the Leafs taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, one has to wonder what's next.
