Las Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner was given a huge opportunity on Sunday night against the Edmonton Oilers, and there were some mixed reviews.

Mitch Marner and the Las Vegas Golden Knights haven't been the best match made in heaven so far, although it's not like the forward has been awful with his new team.
The Golden Knights are a viable Stanley Cup contender, and with 36 points in 34 games, Marner has been fairly solid, even if he has made his fair share of mistakes.
On Sunday, Marner was even given a massive opportunity with Jack Eichel out of the lineup. He was placed on the first line as a center, with Mark Stone and Ivan Barbashev on his wings.
Despite scoring two points against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, the Golden Knights could not come through and secure the victory.
In fact, for much of the game, Marner's effort was lackluster, and he found himself getting called out by one of the journalists who covers the team.

Jesse Granger took to social media with some hefty criticism of Marner, noting that the forward is not playing like the superstar he was marketed to be.
The Golden Knights have looked unthreatening with the puck all night.

This would be a great time for Mitch Marner to play like a superstar.
With a record of 16-8-10, the Golden Knights are currently second in the Pacific Division, where they are now tied with the Edmonton Oilers, and behind the Anaheim Ducks.
Marner is still trying to find his footing with his new team, and there is no telling whether or not he is going to be able to get over the hump and enjoy his 102-point production from last season.
The Golden Knights are paying him a lot of money, and they are going to want that 100-point player to present himself sooner rather than later.
