Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was extremely frustrated with his players on Tuesday night as their effort against the Chicago Blackhawks was unacceptable.

Last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 3-2, although it wasn't a particularly good game from the Buds.
They went down 2-0 early and even gave up a short-handed goal to a Connor Bedard-less Blackhawks. It was a pitiful first period, and the second period wasn't any better.
However, with 10 minutes to go, the Maple Leafs came alive and ended up scoring three unanswered goals. In fact, with three minutes to go, they scored two goals within eight seconds of each other. Dakota Joshua got the game-winner, while Auston Matthews tied it up.
Typically, playing well for just 10 minutes in any given game is not going to get you a win. However, the Leafs made it happen. While a win is cause to celebrate, head coach Craig Berube was not amused.

During the first period, Berube went viral after yelling at his players on the bench. It was an intense moment, and he looked absolutely livid with his team's effort.
After the game, Berube explained why he had that reaction to the moment. In his mind, the team's effort was simply inexcusable, especially given the circumstances.
Well, just giving up a shorthanded goal and then, you know, giving up a face-off goal. These shouldn't happen. And then we get all muscled around our net. It's just simple things. That's why I was pissed off.
Clearly, Berube has a lot of passion, and that passion was on full display in the midst of a rough performance from his team, which should know better by now.

Maple Leafs face an uphill battle

Despite the win, the Toronto Maple Leafs still face an uphill battle. They are four points out of third place in the Atlantic Division, and are just a few points out of last place.
They need to keep winning; otherwise, they are going to find themselves in a huge hole going into the New Year. On Thursday night, the Leafs will look to win again, this time against the Washington Capitals.
