Leafs Forward Nick Robertson's Fate Sealed After Latest Report Involving Easton Cowan
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson is currently in a bit of a bad spot, as Easton Cowan continues to impress during training camp.
Nick Robertson entered training camp with a new contract, but little certainty about his role. After all, with numerous bottom-six forwards joining the Maple Leafs this Summer, the roster is very crowded.
Although Robertson had a solid start to training camp, things have since tapered off, and the Leafs are giving more attention to their shiny new rookie, Easton Cowan.
Cowan has played in every single preseason game so far, and in those games, he has easily been one of the biggest standouts.
Nick Robertson seemingly replacedby Easton Cowan
In fact, at practice on Friday, Easton Cowan took Robertson's spot on the fourth line. Meanwhile, Robertson skated with the leftovers consisting of Calle Jarnkrok and David Kampf.
If the Leafs decide to keep things the same, then at best, Robertson would be the team's 13th forward this season, which is not a great spot to be in.
One can't help but think this is an indication that Robertson's time with the Maple Leafs is beginning to dwindle.

There have been talks that Robertson is already thinking about leaving the team and asking for a trade.
If he can't get into the lineup consistently this season, then it seems very likely that the Leafs are going to push for some sort of deal.
Meanwhile, this can only spell good news for Easton Cowan, who fans want to see in a Maple Leafs jersey this season.
