Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving wants to make a trade to improve his team; however, that could mean parting ways with Easton Cowan.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently in last place in the Atlantic Division, and as a result, general manager Brad Treliving is facing more pressure than he's ever faced before.
Maple Leafs ownership is not going to put up with these results. They want a contender, and this roster is not going to be able to cut it.
Having said that, rival teams always play hardball with the Leafs. It always feels as though they overpay for players, and very seldom do Treliving's trades actually work out in the Leafs' favor.
Furthermore, this season has been particularly hard on Treliving, as he is lacking draft picks, and there aren't many prospects in the Leafs' system who could realistically be traded.

Will the Maple Leafs trade Easton Cowan

Easton Cowan and Ben Danford are the only two prospects that are worth something to rival teams, and whenever Treliving negotiates, those names are going to come up.
However, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Treliving simply isn't interested in making that move. Cowan and Danford get to stay.
They don't have significant assets that they're willing to trade, they're not trading Easton Cowan, they don't wanna move Ben Danford
So far this season, Easton Cowan has six points in 14 games, and he has proven himself to be an effective NHLer who can get you points and some solid defensive shifts.
While he still has a lot of work to do, he is showing himself to be a guy who could easily finish a season with 60 to 70 points. Even if it may take him a few years to do that.
Meanwhile, Danford continues to showcase his talents in the OHL, and in a world where the Leafs need an offensive defenseman who is right-handed, Danford is untouchable.
