In fact, there is a 23-year-old defensive prospect on the Toronto Marlies who is proving to be the team's best option right about now.

That defenseman is none other than William Villeneuve. He is a right-handed defenseman who can give you a steady dose of offensive production.

In 16 games this season, he has managed a total of 10 points. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that in just a few short seasons, he has already amassed 100 points as a member of the Marlies. According to Marlies PR, this puts him in rare company.

The solution for the Toronto Maple Leafs is clear. They need to call up William Villeneuve and give him a chance with the NHL roster.

He is deserving of an opportunity, and he is exactly what the Leafs have been looking for. He is a right-handed defenseman, and he can generate all sorts of offense.

It would be malpractice of the highest order for the Leafs not to give Villeneuve a chance. Although based on how things have gone this season, it would not be surprising to see him passed over.
