Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark had a rough night against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and it appears as though there were bigger things on his mind.
Last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators by a score of 7-5 in a game that was categorized by subpar goaltending.
Joseph Woll had a rough night, and so did Senators goalie Linus Ullmark, who was pulled after allowing four goals on 14 shots.
With a goals-against average of 2.95 and a save percentage of .881, there is no denying that this has been a difficult season for Ullmark.
As it turns out, he may have been dealing with something off ice, as a big announcement was made today that could impact the Senators' season.
Linus Ullmark to take leave of absence
According to Senators beat reporter Julian McKenzie, the team has confirmed that Ullmark will be taking a leave of absence.
The goaltender has the full support of the Senators organization. At this time, the Senators will be respecting the privacy of their netminder.
The Maple Leafs had Joseph Woll take a leave of absence at the start of the season, and it took about a month and some change before he returned.
For Ullmark, this is a very serious situation, and we hope that all is well with him and his family during this time. These situations are to be taken with the utmost gravity.
The Senators are clearly very worried about Ullmark, and the fact that this happened less than 24 hours after last night's game really does tell you something.
Once again, we are wishing Ullmark the best going forward.
