The Toronto Maple Leafs appear to have secured the rights to their number one target this summer. At the draft in Las Vegas on Saturday Toronto acquired the free agent rights to Chris Tanev which could give them the jump in signing him Monday.
While the addition of Tanev wasn't possible at the deadline it would appear that the 6'4 193lb thirty-four-year-old may be on the verge of joining Toronto as early as Monday when free agency opens.
While there are concerns about Tanev who has not been able to complete a full eighty-two game schedule since the 2021-2022 season due to injuries, the addition of him could be the boost the Maple Leafs sorely need on their back end, but at the right price & term.
Fans will have to wait and see about the length and term of the contract but it seems like GM Brad Treliving is on the cusp of getting his man.
