Maple Leafs Announce Concerning Updates Involving Joseph Woll, Nicolas Roy, & Simon Benoit
Toronto Maple Leafs training camp continues today, although it has come with bad news for Joseph Woll, Nicolas Roy, and Simon Benoit.
Training camp began on Thursday, with Max Domi suffering a lower-body injury. Thankfully, this injury doesn't seem too severe as the forward is trying to get back in shape.
Today, practices are set to continue, although there will now be three additional players who won't be able to participate.
According to LeafsPR on X, those players are Joseph Woll, Simon Benoit, and Nicolas Roy. Woll has an illness, while the other two have injuries of some sort.
The following Maple Leafs players will be absent from today's practice:
D Simon Benoit (upper body)
F Nicolas Roy (lower body)
G Joseph Woll (illness)
D Simon Benoit (upper body)
F Nicolas Roy (lower body)
G Joseph Woll (illness)
For now, the severity of these injuries and illnesses are completely unknown, although that does not take away from the concern.
At the end of the day, you never want to see your best players going through something like this, especially in training camp.
Nicolas Roy and Joseph Woll under the microscope
Woll is trying to win the starting job from Anthony Stolarz, and the lack of reps will make it much harder for him to do that.
Meanwhile, Nicolas Roy is currently in the midst of trying to get himself acclimated to a new team. An injury will not help in that endeavor.
Either way, you cannot blame any of these guys for their circumstances. Instead, fans are just going to need to chill out a little bit.
Hopefully, these players are able to return sooner rather than later.
