Toronto Maple Leafs prospect goaltender Dennis Hildeby is gaining interest around the league, and one team in particular appears to be very interested.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are a team that might have to make some trades soon if they want any chance of going to the NHL Playoffs.
General manager Brad Treliving reportedly wants to be a buyer, but he doesn't have a ton of assets to make something like that happen.
Having said that, the Leafs do have some assets they could give up as a means to an end, including a surplus of goalies.
Dennis Hildeby recently had a solid stint with the Leafs, and according to The Daily Faceoff, there is one team that is interested.
Philadelphia Flyers like Dennis Hildeby
That team is the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers aren't very deep in net, but someone like Hildeby could change those fortunes in an instant.
Hildeby is someone I know the Flyers like, according to sources. Is he available? That much is uncertain, but he may be the Leafs' best trade chip if they want to make an addition ahead of the trade deadline. With no first-round picks in each of the next two drafts and their top prospect, Easton Cowan, already on the roster, they don't have much in the way of trade currency. Hildeby, if made available, could be just that.
One has to wonder what the Flyers could give for Hildeby. All we know is that goalies will cost a pretty penny.
Hildeby has some real upside, and the Leafs would be able to make some real heads turn if they made such a move.
Only time will tell what Brad Treliving decides, especially after a loss to the Buffalo Sabres tonight.
