Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll is dealing with a lower-body injury, and today, he offered an update on where he stands in his recovery.
Joseph Woll is incredibly important when it comes to the success of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has helped the team get back within striking distance of a playoff spot, and he is also giving good vibes.
Unfortunately, he suffered a lower-body injury last week against the Carolina Hurricanes, and it has left the Maple Leafs in a tough spot.
While Dennis Hildeby has been fantastic in relief for Woll, the Leafs would be a lot better off if they had their starting goalie healthy.
Over the past couple of days, he has been getting some workouts in, and there has been some hope that he could play on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers.
Joseph Woll reveals what's next
Today, the Leafs held an optional practice, and it was here where Woll was asked whether or not he would be looking to play this weekend.
Unfortunately, the answer was not in the affirmative. Instead, Woll noted that he is not ready and will look to return sometime next week.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will have a couple of days off following their match against the Edmonton Oilers. They play on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
This is probably the best time for Woll to come back, especially since Hildeby is on a run right now, and has proven he can carry games.
Regardless, this still isn't a great situation for the Maple Leafs, who need to get this team healthy if they want to make the playoffs.
It is not going to be easy, but with Woll coming back soon, their chances certainly aren't out the window. At least not yet.
