The Toronto Maple Leafs and Matias Maccelli are not on the same page right now, which has led to some pretty serious trade rumors involving the winger.

Matias Maccelli has been a healthy scratch since November 28th, and it remains to be seen when he will get back into the Maple Leafs lineup.
Earlier this morning, it was made clear that the Leafs would probably be looking to trade the winger, as it's better to get some assets back.
Of course, there are plenty of teams interested in Maccelli, especially since he can be a productive player under the right circumstances.
As for who the Maple Leafs would trade for in this situation, there is one name that appears to be near the top of the list.

Maple Leafs could be looking to re-acquire Mason Marchment

That name is Mason Marchment, who actually started his professional career with the Leafs organization, and only played four games for the NHL club.
After a hot stint in Dallas, Marchment went to the Seattle Kraken on a four-year, $18 million deal, where his output has suffered. He has 11 points in 26 games so far this season.
Friedman mentioned Marchment as another name to watch, could a Maccelli-Marchment swap make sense-both have struggled and the latter fits the Leafs system better

Both were moved for similar draft capital and Marchment has 11 points in 26 games, their value is probably comparable
The Toronto Maple Leafs could use a player like Marchment, as he is gritty when he needs to be and can also produce some points.
Whether or not Maccelli would be enough to acquire Marchment, and if the Kraken would even be interested, still very much remains to be seen.
Ultimately, the Maple Leafs have to make some moves, and with Maccelli in the press box, moving him might be the only correct option.
