Late last week, Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving made his first trade before the deadline, bringing back defenceman Ilya Lyubuskin in a deal with the Anaheim Ducks.
In an article on The Fourth Period, it's being reported that Treliving is looking to acquire another defenceman and the team has been linked to five defenceman, three of whom - David Savard, Colton Parayko and Joel Edmundson - are Stanley Cup champions.
The interesting thing about the five defencemen the Maple Leafs have been linked to is that three of them are under contract beyond this season, with Matt Dumba and Joel Edmundson being unrestricted free agents on July 1st. David Savard has one year remaining on his contract beyond 2023-24, Mario Ferraro has two years, while Colton Parayko, who would be the hardest player to bring in, has five years with an average annual value of $6.5 million.
