Maple Leafs presented unique opportunity as former forward hits waivers

Earlier this season, the Toronto Maple Leafs had forward Sammy Blais on their team, and after placing him on waivers, he went to the Montreal Canadiens.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have gone through quite a few players this season, and there has been a real sense that the team needs some offense.
However, going into the trade deadline, the Leafs are expected to be sellers. Bobby McMann, Calle Jarnkrok, and even Scott Laughton could be on the move.
If those players are traded for draft picks, the Leafs will need to fill out the roster with players, particularly forwards in the bottom six.
Well, as it turns out, the perfect option has just hit waivers, and it is a player whom the Maple Leafs are very familiar with.
Sammy Blais is back on the market
That player is none other than Sammy Blais. He played eight games for the Leafs this season and managed three points.
Blais was eventually placed on waivers, where he went to the Montreal Canadiens and played a total of 13 games, notching five points.
Today, the Habs placed Blais on waivers, and the Maple Leafs now have until 2 PM tomorrow to make their last move before the roster freeze.
Of course, there is no telling whether or not the Maple Leafs are going to make this move, once and for all.
For now, they are showing no signs of wanting to make this a reality. However, given how things have gone, they might just have no choice.
Only time will tell whether or not Blais goes down to the Laval Rocket, or ends up in a new home.
