Matias Maccelli Makes Eye-Opening Comments About the Toronto Maple Leafs Franchise

Matias Maccelli was acquired by the Toronto Maple Leafs exactly one week ago, and they did not have to give up a lot to get him.

They only had to give up a conditional third-round pick in 2027. However, if Maccelli has 51 points this season and the Leafs make the playoffs, that will be upgraded to a second-round pick in 2029.

Maccelli only had 18 points last season, but the season before that, he had 57. This was one season after scoring 49 points in 64 games.

On Monday, Maccelli got to speak to the media, and it was here that he revealed where he was when he got the call that he had been traded to the Leafs.

As it turns out, he was trying to make a putt on the golf course when a buddy of his told him what was going on. This stopped him dead in his tracks, and he ended up missing his putt.

Although more importantly, Maccelli revealed just how much of a joy it is to be playing for the Leafs. When his agent told him a trade was possible, he said the Leafs were near the top of his list.

With more and more players coming out and saying they do not want to play in Toronto, this is a huge win for the Maple Leafs franchise as a whole.

Only time will tell whether or not Maccelli can have a true resurgence with the Leafs, or if he will prove to be a bust.

Luckily, the Leafs were able to get him at a low cost, which will make this low-risk investment in the short-term.
