Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies seemingly signed a contract extension on Sunday; however, the latest development has some fans wondering what happened.
Matthew Knies and the Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly came to terms on a six-year contract extension on Sunday, worth a total of $46.5 million.
Soon after the deal was announced, Matthew Knies took to his Instagram story, where he told Leafs Nation that he was sticking around for another six years.
However, according to numerous Leafs fan accounts on X, Knies deleted the story soon after. There was no explanation, and to make things even weirder, the leafs have yet to officially announce the signing.

Perhaps these fans are simply being irrational right now, however, it is easy to see why they might be a bit weirded out by the lack of updates for such a huge signing.
What are the Toronto Maple Leafs cooking?
The Toronto Maple Leafs are clearly working on some big moves here, and perhaps the Leafs just want to wait for things to die down before announcing Knies.
Or perhaps, the team just had a few stipulations in the deal to square away before putting pen to paper. It is nothing that fans should worry themselves over.
