Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has been included in some trade chatter this season, and Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes is the target.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are not interested in Matthew Knies. However, analysts and bloggers are obsessed with the idea of the Leafs trading the young forward for a puck-moving defenseman.
Hannah Stuart of Bleacher Report did just that over the weekend as she released an article about four potential Quinn Hughes trades.

Matthew Knies for Quinn Hughes?

It appears as though Stuart was trying to have fun with the piece and was putting together trades that probably won't work. Some see it as satirical, although it's impossible to tell if the trade proposals were genuine.
One of these proposals was quite shocking, as it included a one-for-one deal of Matthew Knies being exchanged for Quinn Hughes.
I don't think either team should make this trade; I think both teams should keep their respective players. But you and I both have to admit that given what we've seen NHL general managers do, it feels far too plausible. Given how talented Matthew Knies is, the fact that he's younger, and their cap hits being fairly close, I can see GMJR agreeing to make this trade a one-for-one rather than doing the calculus required to bring in extra assets.
This led to a lot of anger on social media, with NHL fans telling Stuart to never put trades together again. There was also a passage about a Taylor Hall for PK Subban trade, which is a-historical at best.
With the trade deadline coming up in a few months from now, this is the kind of slop that we are going to have to be subjected to.
Everyone loves a blockbuster deal. When those deals don't happen, everyone gets bored, and they try to make the wildest deals imaginable.
Of course, this trade would work in the Leafs' favor, but don't expect the Canucks to ever accept something so foolish.
