Matthew Knies misses practice amid Rasmus Andersson trade talks

With the Toronto Maple Leafs kicking tires on Rasmus Andersson, it would appear as though the Calgary Flames are attempting to play a little bit of hardball.
Earlier today, we revealed that a source in Finland is saying that the Toronto Maple Leafs could end up trading Matias Maccelli and some draft capital to the Calgary Flames for Rasmus Andersson.
Of course, this has sent fans into a complete frenzy. Andersson is a puck-moving defenseman who is right-handed, which is exactly what the Leafs need.
In that same breath, there are some who feel as though the price tag on Andersson is too steep. With that in mind, there is a huge tug of war going on.
Calgary Flames want Matthew Knies
According to Darren Dreger, Matthew Knies is one of the many players that the Calgary Flames would like in return for Andersson.
He is a first-line player, and he has the potential to give you a point per game, while also notching 30 goals in a single season.
If you're Craig Conroy...you're asking for Matthew Knies, or you're asking for something like that; if you're Toronto...a contract extension would have to be part of it
Interestingly enough, Knies was not present at practice today. Neither was Brandon Carlo, who is another player who could be traded.
This led to some serious speculation online until Mark Masters shut it down by saying that he and Carlo were simply being given "maintenance."
Only time will tell what ends up happening here, although if one thing is for certain, it is that some fans are deathly concerned.
Hopefully, the Maple Leafs do the right thing for everyone involved.
