Mitch Marner's First Assist to Jack Eichel Will Have Toronto Maple Leafs Fans in Shambles

Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs are no longer an item. Instead, they divorced in the summer and are looking to move on as cleanly as possible.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights are Stanley Cup contenders, so it should come as no surprise that Marner would want to play for them.

Not to mention, he now gets to be linemates with Jack Eichel, who is a goal-scoring machine. Sure, he isn't Auston Matthews. However, he can still play at an elite level.

On Thursday, Marner played his first game with the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and it was a 3-2 overtime victory against the Utah Mammoth.

During the game, Marner finished with an assist, while Eichel had two goals and an assist. One of those goals was an assist from the former Leaf.

As you can see below, the assist was a nice one, and it was a demonstration of the chemistry that is being forced right now.

For Maple Leafs fans, it is definitely going to be hard watching Marner succeed with another team. At the end of the day, it's a fact of life that they just need to come to grips with.

Besides, the preseason has shown us that the Maple Leafs actually look pretty good and have a ton of potential.

For now, many will just have to take a wait-and-see approach before jumping to any conclusions on who is going to be better off.

The regular season begins for the Maple Leafs on October 8th, and we cannot wait for everything to go down.
