The Las Vegas Golden Knights have bestowed Mitch Marner with a new role, and for Toronto Maple Leafs, this is all a painful reminder of what could have been.

Mitch Marner is one of the best players in the world right now, and ever since leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs, he has been trying to find his place on the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
It hasn't been easy to start the season; however, with every passing game, Marner gets a little bit better, much to the chagrin of all the fans in Toronto.
Speaking of Toronto, when Marner was on the Leafs, he was always played on the Wing. Whether it be Mike Babcock, Sheldon Keefe, or Craig Berube, seldom did the coaches deviate from the norm.
However, in Las Vegas, Marner has already been given a new role, and it is a role that has been a long time coming. Albeit, one that Leafs fans will resent immediately.

Mitch Marner is now playing center

Marner is now playing center, with Jack Eichel hurt. His wingers are Ivan Barbashev and Mark Stone, and so far, this line has been quite successful.
As one Leafs fan account put it on X: "Couldn't try this once in nine seasons, eh?" Needless to say, there is already some anger from Leafs fans when it comes to this move.
If you are a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, you can't help but be a little bit jealous about what is going on between the Golden Knights and Marner.
They are trying new things with the forward, and now, he has 39 points in 36 games. Previously, he was averaging less than a point per game. Clearly, he has picked up the pace.
For now, it seems like the Golden Knights are one of the best teams in the Pacific, even if they struggle to win games in overtime and the shootout.
Once Eichel returns, there is no denying that this team will be a Stanley Cup-contending powerhouse. The whole league has to be on notice.
