Mitch Marner makes humiliating error and costs the Las Vegas Golden Knights a win

Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner embarrassed himself on Saturday night with a fatal error against the Anaheim Ducks, which lost his team the game.
Mitch Marner is enemy number one in Toronto these days, as the forward decided to leave the Maple Leafs franchise this summer, for the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
So far, Marner has been having a good time in Las Vegas. He is playing for a Stanley Cup contender, and he has shown tremendous chemistry with Jack Eichel.
Unfortunately, last night was not a particularly good one for Marner, as he made a humiliating mistake that ultimately lost his team the game.
Mitch Marner gives the puck away to Cutter Gauthier
The Golden Knights were playing the Anaheim Ducks, and with the score tied 3-3 in overtime, Marner gave the puck away behind his own net.
Cutter Gauthier scooped up the puck and immediately popped it into the net. The Golden Knights' goalie was not ready for the shot, as Marner lazily tried to shovel the puck through the middle.
It was the kind of mistake that Marner used to make during the postseason. Fans don't expect that kind of thing from him in the regular season.
Mitch Marner's 2025-26 stats
So far this season, Mitch Marner is averaging a point per game. He has 21 points in 21 games, which is below his pace from last season, when he had 102 points.
Having said that, the Maple Leafs are missing Mitch Marner quite a bit right now. His four goals and 17 assists are very much needed right now, especially as the Leafs' roster deals with injuries.
Not to mention, Marner is getting acclimated to his new team and teammates, so we imagine his production will get better as the season goes on.
For now, he remains one of the best playmakers in the league, even if he is out here making some fatal errors.
