Toronto Maple Leafs forwards Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies are out with injuries right now, and Craig Berube recently gave an update on their status.
Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies are two of the most important players on the Toronto Maple Leafs, as they are mainstays on the first line.
Going into Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens, both forwards remain out of the lineup, although they were both on the ice Friday for practice.
Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies injury updates
After practice, head coach Craig Berube delivered a disappointing update on Knies and Matthews, noting that no one should expect them to play tomorrow.
Same as it was yesterday. No change. They're out there practising, which is good, but availability tomorrow is doubtful
This is not an ideal situation, and we're sure Berube would love to have his best players back so that the team can actually generate some offense.
Maple Leafs injuries pile up
Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies aren't the only Maple Leafs stars dealing with a whole host of injuries right about now.
Anthony Stolarz, Brandon Carlo, Nicolas Roy, and Chris Tanev are all currently dealing with issues. This has left the team in shambles, and it remains to be seen when all of these players will return.
The Leafs have lost six of their last seven games, and it is clear that the injuries are a huge reason for this. The fans can only hope that the team is at full strength soon.
