Nashville Predators' Luke Schenn weighs in on Craig Berube

Former Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Luke Schenn was asked about what new coach Craig Berube is like and how he'll act on the bench and in the locker room.
Luke Schenn is no stranger to current Maple Leafs bench boss Craig Berube and because of that, Schenn has some insight into what Berube is about and what he will bring to a team that appears to be looking for many things, but nothing more important than a little more stability behind the bench this upcoming season.
When pressed about what he learned from him and how he'll compliment the dressing room Schenn had the following to say:
»He's a great coach. He says it like it is, there's no sugar coating with him. He's what you want in a coach or, for me at least, personally. He's black and white, no grey area; you know where he stands all the time. If you're not playing well, he'll let you know. I think it's good, and it'll be good in that market as well.'
The synopsis and endorsement that Schenn has given on how he believes Berube will help move the Maple Leafs forward couldn't have come at a better time. With the personnel changes that happened this summer and the ongoing talk on whether Mitch Marner will be traded before the start of the season or possibly during the 2024-2025 season, it's been nearly impossible for fans and pundits to put a positive spin on the upcoming season. But who could blame them?
Whether everyone likes it or not, the past still suggests one playoff round victory in eight years and every year fans go into the season with their hopes dialled way up thinking that it's Stanley Cup or bust, but in a market like Toronto, it seems like it's the only mindset that makes sense. Whether Berube can help this squad reach its full potential or determine that they already have remains to be seen, but time will tell if Schenn is right and Berube is the right man for the job.
