The Toronto Maple Leafs got some bad injury news involving William Nylander, and now, the team has to call up a forward against the Winnipeg Jets.
William Nylander got injured a couple of nights ago as the Toronto Maple Leafs took on Mitch Marner and the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
It was some truly bad luck for Nylander, and the Leafs are now in the midst of finding the right solution as this team gets prepared for the Winnipeg Jets.
It is likely that Calle Jarnkrok is going to be bumped up into the lineup tonight, as it has been reported that William Nylander cannot play.
With that in mind, the Maple Leafs are being forced to call up a forward so that they have at least one player in street clothes come Saturday night.
Maple Leafs to call up Jacob Quillan
That forward is going to be none other than Jacob Quillan of the Toronto Marlies, who was called up earlier in the season.
He has struggled to get into the Leafs' lineup, and at 23 years old, it is likely for that to remain the case, unless more guys get hit with the injury bug.
In 28 games with the Marlies, Jacob Quillan has 27 points. He even had a hat trick a few days ago, which was a huge achievement.
Going forward, it will be interesting to see if the Maple Leafs are able to get Quillan more involved, or if he ends up staying in the press box.
The fans would love to see more of him, going forward, but that is going to be a big ask, especially with the Leafs looking to win.
Quillan's time is coming, but it is hard to imagine that this time is going to be happening in the immediate future.
