Nazem Kadri Speaks Out About the Disrespect He and His Family Faced from Kyle Dubas While with the Maple Leafs

For the past two years, Nazem Kadri has starred with the Calgary Flames despite the lack of team success, and it's because of that that he finds himself in trade conversations once again. This isn't the first time he's been involved in talks, as Kadri recently revealed what happened during his exit from the Toronto Maple Leafs, revealing that the team assured him no trade was happening before ultimately moving him to Colorado.

According to Kadri, GM Kyle Dubas gave him many reassurances that he was not being moved, before he began being contacted by the Flames about a potential trade, and while they were on his no-trade list, the speculation clearly broke his trust with the Maple Leafs front office. What made all of this worse was that Kadri's partner was nine months pregnant, and just days after being traded to Colorado she gave birth, forcing the couple to move across the continent with a newborn.

Since moving on, Kadri has completely evolved as a player with the Avalanche, winning the Stanley Cup back in 2022, something he would never have done as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The veteran forward would then willingly sign a free agent deal with the Calgary Flames, where he has gone on to put up career numbers, with his disdain for the Maple Leafs front office seemingly never dissipating. It's unclear why Kyle Dubas was unable to be up front with Kadri and his pregnant partner, as it clearly would have gone a long way to be transparent, but that didn't end up being the case, so you can bet that Kadri has revelled in the success that he has had since leaving Toronto.
