Toronto Maple Leafs forward Scott Laughton is a free agent this summer, and many have wondered what his plans will be going into free agency.
Scott Laughton is a player who has had his fair share of ups and downs with the Toronto Maple Leafs, ever since being traded from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Overall, fans have an interesting relationship with the forward. Some love what he brings to the table, while others feel like he was a wasted trade.
This Summer, the forward is a free agent, and both the Leafs and Laughton himself need to decide whether or not he is going to stick around.
Does Scott Laughton like it in Toronto
In a new piece from Luke Fox of Sportsnet, it was stated that Laughton does want to stay in Toronto, as he loves playing for his childhood team.
You get chills every time going out, thinking about this team you grew up watching.
The Leafs were one of the few teams he wanted to be traded to last season. Furthermore, believes the Leafs can still be winners.
You want to win. I made it clear in Philly at last year's deadline that this was a team that I believed in and that I wanted to come to. And I still believe in this team, even though we are where we are.
Going into the trade deadline, Laughton is someone of value, and if the Leafs are going to be sellers, they need to consider what getting rid of Laughton looks like.
It is a sad reality, albeit one that the Maple Leafs must consider given what is at stake. Only time will tell what they decide.
That said, it is good to know that Laughton still very much wants to be in Toronto.
