During an appearance on "Spittin Chiclets," Sean Avery had some very strong opinions on the Toronto Maple Leafs and captain Auston Matthews.

Sean Avery is someone who never shies away from giving his opinion, regardless of what the topic might be. This has gotten him in trouble, although now that he no longer plays professional hockey, he can say whatever he wants.
One of the teams that he has taken an interest in over the years is the Toronto Maple Leafs, although it is an interest that begins and ends with hatred.
The former enforcer is very critical of the franchise, and for the most part, he doesn't have a lot of respect for the guys on the team.
He has called guys like William Nylander and Auston Matthews soft, and his latest appearance on "Spittin Chiclets" was a continuation of these narratives.

Sean Avery explains why the Toronto Maple Leafs are bad

While speaking to Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette, Avery gave his take on why the Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling so far this season.
He claims that the team doesn't have any "dogs." He says the Hughes brothers and Connor McDavid are examples of dogs across the league.
Avery also touched on the departure of Mitch Marner, noting that he has gone on to thrive with the likes of Jack Eichel in Las Vegas.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, none of what Avery is saying here is particularly new information. Instead, he is just preaching to the choir.
However, if there is any player who has the best opportunity of becoming a dog, it would have to be Matthew Knies, who is blossoming into a phenomenal power forward.
For now, Avery is unfortunately correct, but that doesn't mean the Leafs are a lost cause. They can still turn things around. They just need to stay the course.
