Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nicolas Roy is a name that has been floated around ahead of the NHL trade deadline, and there is at least one team that wants him.
Nicolas Roy is a player who has made a solid impact on the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, and it is clear that the fans appreciate him.
In 54 games this season, Roy has 20 points, and it appears as though he has become trade bait with the Leafs looking to sell off some assets.
Roy is someone who could get back a decent return, especially when you consider how centers are at a bit of a premium right now.
The Colorado Avalanche would love Nicolas Roy
According to recent reports, the Colorado Avalanche is one of the teams interested in giving Nicolas Roy a chance, should they get the right deal.
The Maple Leafs would love to do business with Colorado, especially since it could lead to some valuable draft capital that the Avs possess.
The Leafs do need draft picks right now. They are lacking picks, and they are lacking prospects. With that in mind, their future is up in the air.
General manager Brad Treliving is going to have to do something here if he wants to make sure that his team doesn't go down a dark road.
If the general manager can't figure things out, then there is a very real scenario in which he is completely let go by management.
For now, there is nothing that Treliving can do, especially with the Olympics going down. Once March 6th rolls around, then something will have to get done.
