Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is being pressured to make some big moves for his team, and one top insider seems to know what's going on.
If you have been watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play this season, then you know that the team needs some work right now.
They are in desperate need of a top-six forward, and they also need a top-four defenseman who can move the puck and is also right-handed.
In order to make this happen, general manager Brad Treliving must make a trade. There are a lot of players available, including Steven Stamkos and Rasmus Andersson.
The Maple Leafs are reportedly actively pursuing some moves right now, but it remains to be seen if anything actually gets done. What we can say is that insiders are on Treliving's case.
Chris Johnston on the Toronto Maple Leafs' plans
According to Chris Johnston, the Maple Leafs are planning on being as aggressive as possible going forward. Simply put, they want to win with this group.
While Johnston did not put a timeline on when Treliving will make a move, it seems as though the trade deadline is probably a good guess.
I think the Leafs as an organization are still gonna operate in a very aggressive manner to try to put this core of players in a chance to win again
If the Maple Leafs continue to lose, then they are going to need to make a move immediately. However, winning certainly delays things.
After losing Mitch Marner, it remains clear that the Toronto Maple Leafs don't have enough firepower. The results reflect this quite well.
Tonight, the Leafs play the Chicago Blackhawks, and only time will tell whether or not this ends up being the fifth loss in a row.
