Toronto Maple Leafs call up young defenseman amid growing injury concerns

The Toronto Maple Leafs are dealing with injuries to Brandon Carlo and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, which have forced the team to go out and make a call-up.
During the Toronto Maple Leafs' game against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Brandon Carlo ended up going down with injuries.
There has been some optimism that both players will be ready to go for Friday night against the Las Vegas Golden Knights, in what is supposed to be a critical game.
However, there are still quite a few questions surrounding these guys, and it has left the Toronto Maple Leafs in a difficult situation that they must figure out.
In fact, just moments ago, the team decided to make a critical roster move, that brings up a defenseman from the Toronto Marlies.
Leafs call up Henry Thrun
That defenseman is 24-year-old stud Henry Thrun, who has played in four games for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season after being acquired in the Ryan Reaves trade.
Overall, Thrun is a solid player who could really help out the Maple Leafs right now. Of course, that is if both Ekman-Larsson and Carlo end up missing the game.
At the end of the day, this is an interesting move by the Leafs, although it should have been known, given everything we have seen from Thrun this season.
He has proven he can play at a high level, and he deserves more opportunities to show his stuff with the Maple Leafs.
Having said that, there is no telling whether or not Thrun will even get into tonight's game, especially with Ekman-Larsson and Carlo taking part in morning skate.
Either way, fans will just have to standby to see how this all develops.
