Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Simon Benoit was ringing in the New Year on Wednesday night, and it led to a life-changing decision that is worthy of celebration.
Simon Benoit has been with the Toronto Maple Leafs since 2023, and he has quickly become one of the more consistent players on the team.
Although he remains a bottom-pairing defenseman, it is seldom that he comes out of the lineup. Instead, he is someone that Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has put tremendous trust in.

According to Leafs Latest on X, the forward has officially decided to propose to his girlfriend. Thankfully, she said yes, and the two are officially engaged.
New Year's Eve is certainly a great time to get engaged, as it is a time of celebration as we usher in the New Year. You can't help but be happy for the couple.
Today should prove to be interesting for Benoit, as he is going to be playing against the Winnipeg Jets tonight at the Scotiabank Arena.
The Maple Leafs won their last game against the New Jersey Devils, and they will be looking to keep the momentum going against Winnipeg.
There are some injuries plaguing the roster right now, especially with Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Chris Tanev, and Dakota Joshua dealing with ailments.
Today, it appears as though Matthews is a game-time decision. The same can be said about William Nylander, who has a lower-body injury.
Only time will tell whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs are able to get the win today, and usher in the New Year as celebratory as Simon Benoit did.
