The Toronto Maple Leafs have been showing interest in Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson, although there are going to be some hurdles.
Since the Summer, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been showing interest in defenseman Rasmus Andersson, and there is a very good reason for this.
Andersson is a right-handed defenseman who can also get you a lot of points. The Leafs need a defenseman who can generate offense, and Andersson fits that bill.
Just a couple of weeks ago, there was this sense that the Leafs would end up with Andersson and would trade Matias Maccelli to get him.
That trade never happened, and these days, it seems like Andersson could not be any further from ever being a Toronto Maple Leaf.
Can the Toronto Maple Leafs still trade for Rasmus Andersson?
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, it is becoming a lot more likely that Andersson goes to either the Las Vegas Golden Knights or the Dallas Stars.
It still sounds like Vegas and Dallas are the two teams that are at the top of his wishlist
With five goals and 13 assists, there is no question that Andersson has been good. Unfortunately, he probably won't take these talents to Toronto.
The Stars and Golden Knights are becoming common favorites for all trade targets around the NHL thanks to the taxes, the weather, and the market.
With that in mind, it still remains to be seen whether or not Andersson is actually going to be dealt before the trade deadline.
He has gone back and forth on being dealt, and even the Flames are becoming increasingly confused about his intentions.
