Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Dennis Hildeby has been steadily improving, and it has created an opportunity that the organization won't want to miss.

The Toronto Maple Leafs need good goaltending right now; otherwise, they have no chance of making their way into a playoff spot.
Thankfully, goaltender Joseph Woll has been sensational in Anthony Stolarz's absence and has done everything he can to be successful.
Meanwhile, Dennis Hildeby has done his best to keep things together. Whether it be a start or a relief effort, Hildeby has had to deal with terrible defense in front of him.
Thankfully, on Saturday night, Hildeby got his very first win of the season. He stopped 33 out of 35 shots against the Pittsburgh Penguins. One might say it was the best performance of his NHL Career.

Dennis Hildeby might be prime for a trade

Having said that, the Maple Leafs are currently in a position where they need to make trades. The team has some glaring holes, and general manager Brad Treliving is being tasked with plugging those holes.
According to Kevin Papetti, a reporter who covers the Leafs, Hildeby's most recent performance has made him a valuable trade asset for those who might be interested.
Treliving could use some forwards, a puck-moving defenseman, and even some draft picks that could be flipped at the trade deadline in March.
Hildeby could certainly fetch those things, especially with his potential. After all, he is 6'7" and is only going to get better year after year.
In six total appearances this season, Hildeby has a goals-against average of 3.07 and a save percentage of .914. He has been a beacon of light, and there are teams that would love him.
Whether or not the Leafs would even think about trading Hildeby is something that still remains to be seen. However, you can imagine the logic behind such a move.
