Edmonton Oilers forward Andrew Mangiapane is on the trade block right now, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are certainly interested in making that move.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be looking to make some moves at the trade deadline, and there is no denying that they have some interesting options.
Of course, the prevailing notion is that the Leafs are going to sell off some of their forwards, such as Bobby McMann and Nicolas Roy.
However, if the Leafs were to do this, they would need to add some forward depth for the final stretch of the NHL season.
This is where Andrew Mangiapane comes into play. He is a hometown forward whom the Leafs were interested in signing last Summer.
Oilers have a realization about Andrew Mangiapane
The Edmonton Oilers are looking to shop Mangiapane, and they believe the price is going to be disappointingly low.
Having said that, the Leafs can sweeten the deal, at a cost. For instance, the Leafs could offer up McMann for a plethora of draft picks, with Mangiapane on the side.
The Oilers continue to work the market for Andrew Mangiapane and should be able to find a partner by March 6, though the return isn't likely to be anything major
It's a move that would certainly help out the Maple Leafs in the short term, while also helping out the Oilers, who want to add depth offense.
For general manager Brad Treliving, this is one of those avenues that he needs to take a serious look at here, moving forward.
Ultimately, the Maple Leafs can be a good team, but they have some major flaws to overcome before they can enjoy the fruits of their labor.
